Families
Welcome to Dinkins
We’re committed to ensuring that every scholar is known, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff works closely with families to provide personalized guidance, academic rigor, and personal growth support, creating a safe and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

Meet Our School Counselor
My name is Rebecca Restad Sherman, and I am thrilled to join the Rattler Family at Richard Dinkins Middle School. With 18 years of experience supporting scholars and families, my goal is to encourage, inspire, and uplift our students while guiding their academic, social, emotional, and college-and-career growth. Middle school is an exciting yet sometimes challenging time for adolescents, and they need every bit of support we can provide. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
Information for Families
Campus Portal
In Campus Portal, formerly called the Family Portal, families and students can see real-time class and assignment grades, homework, test scores, upcoming due dates, attendance information, and discipline incidents.
Plus, your Campus Portal contact information feeds the tools that our school and the District uses to connect with you via telephone, email, and mailing address. We need your help keeping your contact information accurate, so we have simple instructions for updating your information on this webpage
Immunization Information
All students entering 7th grade are required to submit documentation that they are up-to-date on their immunizations. Students must have the TDAP Booster and submit the proper documentation with the first week of school in order to remain on campus. Proof of vaccination must be submitted on the TN Vaccination form. Forms can be submitted on paper, by fax at 629-999-6644 or emailing Dinkins Middle.
- For assistance in getting vaccinations, we recommend visiting the Metro Public Health Department's
Woodbine Public Health Center, 224 Oriel Avenue. - There is more information on the Metro Public Health website.
